Each holiday season, The Salvation Army engages in the tradition of "staffing the kettles" to promote the plight of the needy in St. Joseph and Branch County. This practice is critical to The Salvation Army's cause, as the money it raises supports the organization’s programs for the rest of the year. Thanks to the generosity of local residents and businesses, The Salvation Army can continue to provide valuable programs such as Utility Assistance, Food Pantry and many other services.

During the holidays children receive gifts through Toys for Tots. Clothing, food and other items are donated to individuals and families and senior citizens receive gifts and visits. The Salvation Army of St. Joseph and Branch County assists over 2,200 people during the holiday season.
